Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 head red cabbage sliced about 1/4" thick (1-2 lbs.)
- 1 onion sliced
- 2 red apples cored and sliced
- 1/2 c. dry red wine
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a large sauce pan and cook covered over medium heat until cabbage is wilted and tender, about 45 minutes to an hour
- As an option, you can fry 3-4 slices of diced thick style bacon and add to the cabbage.
