Recipe: Sauerkraut March 18, 2022August 5, 2024 0 Comments Jump to Recipe Print Recipe Print Pin The Best Sauerkraut Ingredients1 lb Sauerkraut, drained but not rinsed (bag or jar, not canned)1 tsp brown sugar1 red apple cored and sliced thin (skin left on)1 small onion sliced thin1 tsp caraway seeds1 potato, peeled and grated1 c water or dry white wine InstructionsMix all ingredients in a large fry pan and cook covered over medium low heat until hot and onion and apple are tenderPut bratwurst links on top of the sauerkraut as it is cooking. This will steam the brats and the drippings will give the sauerkraut a great flavor.
